6 O'clock Brass

Coronavirus: Update 15th December - Whilst 6 O'clock Brass is not currently able to meet, we hope to be able to restart our activities in 2021. If you are thinking of joining us, please do get in contact now so we can keep you informed of our plans (see the contact details on this page).

A friendly group for brass players of around grade 1 or grade 2 standard

6 O’clock Brass or simply “6B” is aimed at those starting out in ensemble playing. There are no formal entry requirements - if you can play a one-octave C major scale, you’re in! 6B helps new players develop ensemble playing through listening, watching and acquiring confidence, so it’s a great complement for regular instrument lessons. Best of all, it’s fun!

Each session of around 30 minutes includes work on breathing or buzzing, playing notes and scales together, and then work on brass band pieces. As players grow in confidence they are able to join in the first part of the Progress Band practice which follows immediately afterwards.

All 6B leaders have been DBS checked and you can read our Child Protection policy here.

Contact Richard Harber shedator@gmail.com if you would like to join us.

We meet each Wednesday evening during term time, 5.45 for 6pm, at Crystal Palace Museum. Parking is available on paid meters outside the museum on Anerley Road.
