The Crystal Palace Progress Band
Coronavirus: Update 15th December - Whilst the Progress Band is not currently able to meet for rehearsals, we are making plans to restart as soon as we can safely do so in 2021. If you are thinking of joining us, please do get in contact now so we can keep you informed of our plans (see the bottom of this page).

The Progress Band started out as the development and training section of the Crystal Palace Brass Band, and indeed we do still have that function, but these days we are a band in our own right.
Our aim is simple: to enjoy playing brass band music. We don't have a formal entry requirement, but to get the most out being in the Progress Band, you need to be able to play at around grade 2 to grade 3 standard. In fact we have a range of ability up to grade 7 and there are opportunities for solos and duets for the more confident players.. Whatever your level, you are welcome to come along to see how you get on, and if you aren't ready yet, 6 O'clock Brass offers extra coaching for less experienced players.
We play a range of repertoire, from classic brass band marches to arrangements of recent pop hits. Our gigs include playing traditional carols, summer festivals, concerts on local bandstands, and usually a competition in early spring.
We have a mix of players of all ages. Some are people learning to play for the first time, some are returning to brass playing after a long break.
Playing in a band is great fun, we have a friendly, supportive atmosphere and you will find that you learn far more playing with others. Have a look at our concert dates – we have a busy social calendar
